If you need a mini four-wheel drive (4WD) to go faster, it is necessary to refit it. motor is the core part of 4WD, there are two ways to refit 4WD motor: The first is to use a better original motor to replace the existing one, which provides less room for upgrading; the second, which is the most common, is the change of internal coils and magnets, such as converting a copper coil to a silver alloy coil or using a thinner wire coil to increase the number of coil turns; meanwhile using stronger magnets to increase speed.

The impacts of magnet performance on motor performance:
The strength of the torque is an important measurement index of motor performance, and magnet is the most important component which determines the motor torque. For a rotor, the stronger magnetic force, the greater the torque is; and the idle speed will be correspondingly lower, but the speed did not slow. Permanent magnets can be divided into weak and strong, low and high working temperature, small and big size. In general: strong magnetic force, motor idle speed will be lower, but large torque, so it is more suitable for multi-ramp competition; however at the same time, it is also more electricity waste. While weak magnetic force, high idle speed motor, but torque would be smaller, it is more suitable for multi-straight sprint, and power saving.

The Way to Separate Strong Magnets

Due to strong magnetic force among permanent magnets, how to merge and separate strong magnets is a big and serious problem while people working with them.

Sintered neodymium magnets, even with small sizes, have very strong magnetic force that will surprise you definitely. Permanent magnets belong to dangerous object; when you handle them:

1.  You should get some magnet safety-danger tips.
2.  Do some clean-ups in work place to keep iron items away
3.  Prepare some tools like work glove, safety glasses and wood block, wood block is a good spacer for big strong magnets.
4. Although demagnetizer is a way to separate magnets. But it will lose magnetic force. So it is very important to know the principle of separating magnets as below picture:




Due to long shape of cylinder magnets to let you have area to grab, with the second method in the picture, you can separate two small cylinder magnets by hand. But for small thin disc magnets or other very big strong magnets, the first method is the right way. Here are the reasons:
1. Seek leverage from other object such as desk and/or find a better way to grab the magnets
2. Separate magnets apart parallel, which requires less force

To merge two big magnets, you need a block wood with sharp corner as below picture. Put big ring magnets each side of wood block, and then slide them to the side of sharp corner slowly. Permanent magnet can be used in aquarium to hold items like water jets, cleaners and coral flags. Due to the work environment, plastic coated magnet is often chosen in the aquarium as waterproofing. In aquarium tank, rare earth magnet can be used as the closure of aquarium cabinet and also as the insert of floating, pads or cleaners.

Ceramic magnet can be used in water and no need for any coating. The weakness is weak magnetic force. In order to avoid this problem, you can use a ceramic (ferrite) magnet on the inside of aquarium wall and a stronger sintered neodymium magnet on the outside of aquarium wall.

DIY: Build Your Own Magnetic Aquarium cleaner
By easy fresh ideas

In a fish tank or aquarium tank, no matter what size, it’s inconvenient to empty the tank before cleaning them. With a magnetic aquarium cleaner, you can easily solve the clean problems caused by narrow shape vases and water.

Materials: 2 pieces strong neodymium magnets, different sponge
Tools: knife, scissor, sewing kit

Steps:
1. Cut the sponge by scissor and make them a little bigger than the magnet.
2. Cut a slot in one side of sponge by a sharp knife.
3. Insert magnet into the sponge.
4. Sew the opening to hold magnet in place.
5. Repeat step 1-4 to make another one.
6. Place a magnetic cleaner on the inside of aquarium wall and another on the outside of wall.
Remarks:
1. Pay attention to slide two magnetic cleaners carefully to attract each other.
2. Use a good substance to encase neodymium magnet, so it can be waterproof, such as plastidip or casting resin.

N55 high grade sintered ndfeb magnet

With more and more the applications for rare earth permanent magnet material in the high-tech fields, the demand for special purpose and high performance rare earth permanent magnet material is also growing. Rare Earth Magnet for Magnetic Drive Pump

Permanent Magnet of The Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) Magnetizing Device for Oil Pipeline

The Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) of  non-destructive inspections is the most widely used detection method to detect a variety of flaws in oil or gas pipeline. The MFL system consists of magnetizing device, yoke and hall sensors. Its working principle is (as below drawing): firstly, to magnetize pipeline detection range by strong magnetic force from magnetizing device. The leakage magnetic field will appear when there is flaw on the pipeline wall. Secondly, to convert MFL signal collected by hall sensors into current to test the flaw size and location.
 

 

Magnetizing is the first step for MFL and determines whether pipeline test area can produce enough magnetic field signals. Magnetizing device usually uses permanent magnet, such as ferrite,alnico, smco and ndfeb magnet, due to its different characteristics in high magnetic energy product, small volume, light weight and no external power required. Ferrite (ceramic) is cheap but low Br; AlNiCo is high Br but low coercive force; rare earth magnet which includes samarium cobalt and neodymium iron boron is high coercive force and remanence but expensive.

For different permanent magnets, the magnetic circuit should be designed according to their magnetic properties, give full play to its advantages, so that the magnetic circuit reaches to the optimum. For high remanence and low coercivity magnetic material, it should adopt an elongated magnet; but on the contrary, it should adopt stubby magnets. If the magnetization effect cannot meet the requirements and coercivity cannot increase, increasing the size of the permanent magnets (typically width and thickness) can meet the requirement. Common grades for MFL magnet are N38, N42,N45 and N50M, sizes 40x20x10mm, 25x25x25mm, 40x25x10mm and 45x45x45mm and soon.
